About Dough-Nuts
Why The Name?
Dough as in money, nuts because I'm passionate about helping others. Plus, I love donuts!
Why Am I Doing This?
Inspired by my wonderful wife and the COVID-19 Pandemic, I decided I wanted to create a space for anyone who wants to learn more about personal finance in a fun and easily digestible manner. I create articles on topics ranging from household budgets, investing, banking, and career advice. I also offer a Q&A platform where you can submit any financial question and I will respond.
I am a firm believer in our capitalist system and have a passion for helping others. I have helped numerous people with financial advice, and nothing brings me more joy than seeing others achieve financial well-being!
My long-term goal is to build this into my life's work and make Dough-Nuts a non-profit focused on helping people reach their financial goals. I envision building a network of financial professionals who would volunteer their time (similar to an attorney doing pro-bono work) to assist those who normally would not have access to a financial expert.
Who Am I?
Who I Am
I have worked for over 15 years in the utility industry in technical, customer service and leadership roles. I have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration with a focus on Finance. I'm a father of two wonderful children and have a supportive and amazing wife.
Financial Accomplishments:
- Bought my first house at 23 without any assistance
- Worked with my wife to pay off $339,502.10 in school loans in 3 years
- Became a "paper millionaire" by age 38
I say this not to brag, but to give you my credentials. I truly want to help you tackle debt, own vs. rent, and have the kind of money that will protect you against whatever life throws at you - and still live comfortably. You can do it, and I'm just here to help.
Who I Am Not
I am not a Certified Financial Planner, nor will I pretend to be! Unlike some in the finance industry, I will not steer you into investments for my personal gain. I refuse to associate with or promote any brands, products or services I do not believe in myself.
